The Presenter:

Dr. Suzanne Acar possesses over 25 years of government experience in enterprise data management and data architecture initiatives.  She currently leads the Department of the Interior (DOI) enterprise metadata management program that won the 2008 Wilshire Enterprise Metadata Management Implementation Award.  She co-chairs the Federal Data Architecture Subcommittee responsible for implementation guidance of the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Data and Information Reference Model (DRM).   She teaches a course on DRM implementation at the USDA Graduate School. She is the government advisor for the Data Management Association (DAMA) National Capitol Region Chapter and MIT's Information Quality Symposium.  The DAMA Government Award and the Federal 100 Award are among the many honors that Dr. Acar has received.

 

Managing Data as a National Asset:

The talk is about the guidance Federal agencies receive for implementing data architectures and data management practices focused on cross-boundary information sharing. It includes an example of an inter-agency e-Gov program successfully implemented from a data/information sharing perspective - Recreation One Stop.
 
The format for the meeting is a presentation of concepts in the morning, break for lunch, then a presentation of a real live application in the afternoon.
