Join us for our first meeting of 2021, as we discuss Data Quality - a topic perhaps familiar to many - in the setting of Social Media.
Over the past year, reliable information has become more important than ever. What steps should we take to protect ourselves; how do we fact check information by and about political candidates. With information all around us, and our increased reliance on digital content as we spend more time at home during a global pandemic -- data collection, quality, and privacy are ever-important. We are constantly faced with emerging studies, health guidelines, and news reports that aim to interpret these new findings; and there are reports that this social media platform (or that one) is misusing our personal data to influence voter decisions or healthcare practices, or making its own determinations about the reliability of information being shared on their platform, and new platforms are emerging. How can we make sense of the information flow that surrounds us? How do we know what to believe?
